Systems
Software
In 1996, Benefit Services, Inc. migrated to GBAS (Group Benefit Administration System). GBAS is a fully adjudicating, on-line, multi user system for benefit administration. GBAS is highly flexible and provides the capability of auto adjudicating claims using procedure driven tables designed for a particular client's plan of benefits. It also provides electronic claims editing and an interface with multiple UCR tables.
Hardware
The GBAS software operates on the Compaq Alpha Server 8400. In order to keep up with the inevitable increase in hardware resources, we have contracted with a platform manager that specializes in the Compaq field. By doing this, we have access to over 1/2 terabyte of processing capacity, 24/7 technical support, and a full disaster recovery plan featuring redundant cabling, UPS power supply with a diesel generator. The facility has also been built 12 feet above ground level with automatic water pumps to prevent flooding.
Security
Benefit Services, Inc. is extremely aware of the non-public private information that we use to adjudicate and pay claims and do not take security lightly. Sign-on security to the Alpha Server is certified as Department of Defense level C-2. The GBAS software has incorporated into it a security system that will not allow any user to gain access to any data if that user has not previously been given the proper security clearance.
